The place
City Winery Hudson Valley sits on about 22 acres along the Wallkill River in Montgomery. The wine is made on site, and the property has several event spaces, from a brick-paved courtyard with a waterfall and bistro lights, to a riverside lawn for ceremonies, a gallery with floor-to-ceiling windows and fermentation tanks, and a big main venue with river views. It handles everything from small weddings to full buyouts.
Filming here
Brick, steel tanks and a river make for a great mix of textures on camera. The courtyard and riverside lawn are beautiful for ceremonies, and the waterfall adds sound you want to manage, so the vows get their own microphones. The main venue has built-in sound, and I take the toasts straight from it.
What to expect
City Winery runs a lot of events and has its own production team. I coordinate with them ahead of time on where I can plug into their sound and how the day moves between spaces.

How long until we get the films?
Eight weeks for the feature and highlight films.
Which package fits a City Winery wedding?
Weddings here often use two or three spaces across the day. The Feature, with two filmmakers, keeps both sides of the day covered.
How do you handle the audio?
Every voice that matters gets its own microphone: a lav on whoever is saying vows, a recorder on the officiant, a feed from the DJ or band for the toasts. It's the reason the films sound the way they do.
Can we have the raw footage?
Yes, as an add-on, delivered on a drive after the edit is finished.
How do we hold a date?
A signed agreement and a retainer hold your date. Dates are first come, first served.
Do you work with our planner and photographer?
Always. I share the timeline ahead of the day and stay out of the photographer's frame.
Is travel included?
Yes. Montgomery is within the Hudson Valley, about 45 minutes from Kingston.
