Senate Garage wedding videographer
A 1921 brick garage on the grounds of the Senate House, in the middle of Uptown Kingston. It's in my own town, so I know the streets around it well.
Notes on Senate Garage
The place
Built in the early 1920s to park chauffeured cars, Senate Garage is now one big open room of exposed brick, steel beams and tall casement windows, with room for about 220 seated guests. It sits on the grounds of the Senate House state historic site in the Stockade district, so the gardens next door work for a ceremony or cocktail hour, and your guests can walk to dinner, coffee and the after party.
Filming here
Brick and concrete make a lively room, which is great for a dance floor and hard on speeches. That's why toasts get a feed straight from the DJ or band, and vows get their own microphone. The casement windows pour in soft daylight for getting ready, and the Stockade streets around the building are some of the best places in the valley for a quick walk with the two of you.
What to expect
Because it's in Kingston, I'm usually there early and I know the good corners of uptown for portraits in any weather. If the ceremony is out in the garden, we plan an indoor backup together so the audio is covered either way.

How long until we get the films?
Eight weeks for the feature and highlight films.
Which package fits a Senate Garage wedding?
Most weddings here are a full day in one spot, which The Feature covers well. If you have a welcome party or a rehearsal dinner uptown the night before, The Cinema or a welcome-party add-on makes sense.
How do you handle the audio?
Every voice that matters gets its own microphone: a lav on whoever is saying vows, a recorder on the officiant, a feed from the DJ or band for the toasts. It's the reason the films sound the way they do.
Can we have the raw footage?
Yes, as an add-on, delivered on a drive after the edit is finished.
How do we hold a date?
A signed agreement and a retainer hold your date. Dates are first come, first served.
Do you work with our planner and photographer?
Always. I share the timeline ahead of the day and stay out of the photographer's frame.
Is travel included?
Yes. Senate Garage is a few minutes from home.
Can we film around Uptown Kingston?
Yes. The Stockade district is right outside the door, and a ten-minute walk between the ceremony and reception is some of the best footage of the day.
